Effects of licorice residue and spent mushroom compost of Pleurotus ostreatus cultivation on root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne javanica was investigated. The factorial experiment was performed using two factors, amendment type in ten levels and inoculation with nematode in two levels, in a randomized complete block design with four replications. Plantgrowth and nematode reproductive factors were measured eight weeks after treatment. According to the results, the pots were treated with 60 gr of unsterilized spent mushroom compost of P. ostreatus cultivation had best effect on the growth parameters of tomato plants. The licorice residue had negative effects on tomato growth. In case of nematode factors, application of 60 gr of every one of each amendment considerably reduced the nematode reproduction. In comparison, spent mushroom compost was more effective than that of licorice residue. With comparing the nematicidal effect of licorice residue and sterilized spent mushroom compost, it can be concluded that the fungus P. ostreatus cultivation can process the components of the plant material to some compounds with less harm to plant and more nematicidal effects
