The wheat family is considered one of the largest and most important plant families in the world, and until today, different bacterial diseases have been reported from this family, including wheat bacterial leaf streak caused by Xanthomonas translucens and mild bacterial mosaic gram-positive bacteria caused by Clavibacter tessellarius. In recent years, there have been reports on the distribution of Gram-positive bacteria, including bacteria of the genus Clavibacter, especially the emerging species Clavibacter zhangzhiyongii in parts of the world such as Australia and China. This pathogen has only been reported from barley plants due to the lack of study of this species. in Iran, it is possible to enter Iran via Iran-imported seeds. The main purpose of this research is to investigate the presence or absence of this species in the country, using biochemical and molecular identification methods, and also to investigate the host range of this bacterial species. For this purpose, plants with symptoms including mosaic, decline, or brow spots have been sampled in two consecutive years, and after isolation of bacteria based on biochemical characteristics and the use of specific primers and primers related to housekeeping genes, the pathogenicity, and host range the isolates were identified as C. zhangzhiyongii .The investigation of their host range indicates the existence of a new host for this emerging bacterial species in Iran This is the first report of the emergence of this bacterium in Iran.
