. During an investigation of endophytic fungi associated with pomegranate trees (cv. Shishe Kap) with/ without aril paleness symptoms, 2015–2016, 74 isolates were recovered as described by Vahedi Darmiyan et al., 2017. Based on morphological studies of all strains and ITS rDNA sequence analysis of selected strains, 20 species were identified. Colonization and frequency rates of endophytic fungi were calculated according to Kumar and Hyde (2004). Alternria sp.1, Alternria sp.2, Endoconidioma populi, Mucor griseocyanus, Penicillium sp.2, Penicillium sp.3, Phoma sp. and Trichoderma longibrachiatum were identified from pomegranate trees having aril paleness disorder. However, Alternaria tenuissima, Aspergillus flavus, A. nidulans, A. ochraceus, A. parasiticus, A. terreus, Cladosporium sp.1, Cladosporium sp.2, Cladosporium sp.3, Penicillium sp.1 and Quambalaria cyanescens were isolated from pomegranate trees lacking aril paleness disorder symptoms. Aspergillus niger, the most predominant fungus (28%), was isolated from all plant tissues of pomegranate trees with/ without aril paleness symptoms. This study indicates the possible tissue-specificity of some species as Mucor griseocyanus was only isolated from fruits, Alternria tenuissima, Endoconidioma populi, Phoma sp. and Trichoderma longibrachiatum from leaves and Aspergillus ochraceus, Aspergillus terreus, Cladosporium spp., Penicillium spp. and Quambalaria cyanescens from flowers of pomegranate trees (Table 1). This is the first report of Mucor griseocyanus in Iran. Among these specimens, Quambalaria cyanescens and Trichoderma longibrachiatum have been previously been reported ((Vahedi Darmiyan et al., 2016; Vahedi Darmiyan et al., 2017).
